Vishal Vasishth, Strategic Advisor Revolution Living, brings a depth of knowledge from the consumer facing side of the CleanTech movement. Admission is $30 with advance payment before Wednesday and online; $35 with payment at the door; and $15 for students with ID.\n\nBIOS:\nPETER MATTHIES: Peter has been involved in international technology and finance business for over 15 years. He is the founder of the Conscious Business Institute (www.consciousbusinessinstitute.com); INSERT INTO events2 (id, isopen, title, location, briefdescrip, ldescription, date, [current], attendees, map, [time], capacity, reminders, doorpay) VALUES which assists business leaders in building and growing their companies in a more inspiring and sustainable way. \n\nPeter started his career at Andersen Consulting in Germany. He later co-founded a systems integration and IT-consulting company, where he lead strategic IT and Internet projects for German corporations. After selling his share, Peter moved to California and worked as an IT analyst and US-correspondent. He founded a business accelerator in the Silicon Valley focusing on financing and growing German and American technology start-ups. Peter then became a Principal in the technology team for one of the world’s leading Private Equity and Venture Capital firms, Apax Partners & Co, and for b-business partners, a leading pan-European VC firm. Peter served as president of the German Venture Capital Club and helped promote a corporate governance and financing environment based on integrity and mutual benefit. \n\n\nVISHAL VASISHTH, Strategic Advisor to Revolution Living, Ventura, CA. Vishal is currently an advisor to Revolution Living, an investment firm started by Steve Case (AOL) with a charter to invest in consumer facing businesses in the health and wellness/clean-tech space. Most recently, Vishal was Vice President- Strategy for Revolution Living. Vishal has also led the senior management team of Flexcar for an interim basis. \n\nPrior to this, Vishal was chief strategy officer for Patagonia, Inc., assisting the CEO in developing the company’s strategic direction, restructuring and overseeing operations. He also directed their Capilene P&L, increasing division sales by $15 million, and helped launch a number of successful product brands generating in excess of $40 million and receiving numerous awards and recognition for the company. In his time at Patagonia, sales doubled while consistently being ranked as one of the best places to work in the U.S. Vishal has worked as a consultant for Investor’s Circle—an angel investor forum targeted towards the health and wellness/clean-tech space. He also developed a business plan to promote organic food in India for the Research Foundation for Science, Technology and Ecology, a non-profit based in Uttar Pradesh. He serves on the board of directors for Coalition of Clean Air. \n\nVishal earned a B. Tech degree in India, a Master’s degree in Sciences from North Carolina State University and an MBA from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management. He and his family make their home in Ventura, CA.\n\n\nDr. DANIEL COLBERT: Dr. Colbert is Chief Technology Officer and a Principal of NGEN (www.ngenpartners.com). Prior to joining NGEN, Dr. Colbert co-founded Carbon Nanotechnologies, Inc. in 2000, the leading producer of single-wall carbon nanotubes, a remarkable material prominent in the burgeoning field of nanotechnology. CNI was founded as a combined effort with Nobel Laureate Professor Rick Smalley to commercialize technology developed together at Rice University over the preceding years. Dr. Colbert was also a member of the chemistry faculty at Rice University, where he earned an international reputation as a leader in the nanotechnology field for his pioneering work. He is a co-author of more than 50 research papers and an inventor with more than 50 patents.\n\nAt CNI, Dr. Colbert was Vice President for Major Development Strategies, where he negotiated funding and joint development agreements and was responsible for all Asian business development.\n\nDr. Colbert earned his B.A. in Chemistry from Cornell University and his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His postdoctoral work focused on quantum reactive scattering theory at the University of California-Berkeley. Dr. Colbert is a board member at Hycrete, Inc.\n\n\nGARY BARSLEY: Gary is Director of Projects for SolarWorld Industries (www.solarworld-usa.com, formerly Shell Solar); INSERT INTO events2 (id, isopen, title, location, briefdescrip, ldescription, date, [current], attendees, map, [time], capacity, reminders, doorpay) VALUES in Camarillo, CA., responsible for marketing & sales support, product development, and project execution of large solar projects for commercial customers. SolarWorld manufactures solar modules, sells ‘solar ‘kits’ for residential & commercial applications, and installs large systems worldwide. \n\nGary Barsley has 26 years experience in marketing, sales, projects, product development, engineering and construction management in energy and environmental tech. fields. Gary has worked on solar, wind, biomass, geothermal, hydro, nuclear, & fossil-fueled (coal, oil, & natural gas) generation technologies. \n\nPrior to SolarWorld and Shell Solar, Gary assisted small startup firms with marketing, business strategy, and new product development. He is also a frequent speaker to schools, universities and business & community groups on topics of solar & renewable energy.
