The Central Coast MIT Enterprise Forum, Inc., a California non-profit
corporation, ("Forum") knows that you care how information about you is used and
shared, and we appreciate your trust that we will do so carefully and sensibly.
This notice describes our privacy policy. By visiting the Forum's website, you are
accepting the practices described in this Privacy Notice.
What Personal Information About Customers
Does the Forum Gather?
Here are the types of information we gather.
- Information You Give Us: We may store any information you enter on our website or
give us in any other way. Although we transmit credit card information to our e-commerce
solution provider, we do not store your credit card information on our server for
your protection. We may store the last few digits of your credit card number to
allow tracking, however. You can choose not to provide certain optional information.
We use the information that you provide for such purposes as improving our service,
and communicating with you. Historically, the Forum has released very little information
to third parties. However, this practice may change. We may provide your information
to third parties.
- Automatic Information: We reserve the right to, but currently do not, have any practice
of receiving or storing information when you interact with our website, except for
that information you provide, such as by filling in a form. We do not currently
use "cookies," but may in the future.
- The "help" portion of the toolbar on most browsers will tell you how to prevent
your browser from accepting new cookies, how to have the browser notify you when
you receive a new cookie, or how to disable cookies altogether.
- E-mail Communications: We do use any e-mail addresses you provide regularly for
various purposes, including sending registration confirmations, lost password information
and notices regarding upcoming Forum events. We may also share your e-mail address.
Does The Forum Share the Information It
Receives?
Information about our members, event registrants, and event attendees is important
part to our service to the community, and we do not sell it to others. We share
customer information only with third parties only as follows:
- Agents: We employ other companies and individuals to perform functions on our behalf.
Examples include sending e-mail, removing repetitive information from registration
and e-mail lists, processing credit card payments, and providing service. They have
access to personal information needed to perform their functions, but may not use
it for other purposes.
- Information and Offers: We might provide your information to selected third parties
that the Forum believe would be perceived as a value-add for the recipients.
- Protection of the Forum and Others: We release account and other personal information
when we believe release is appropriate to comply with law; enforce or protect the
rights, property, or safety of the Forum, our members and attendees, or others.
This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for
fraud protection and credit risk reduction.
How Secure Is Information About Me?
- We work to protect the security of your credit card transactional information during
transmission by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts information
you input.
- Of course, we transmit the entire credit card number to the appropriate credit card
company during order processing.
- It is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your password
and to your computer. Be sure to sign off when finished using a shared computer.
What Information Can I Access?
The Forum gives limited access to information for the purpose of viewing and, in
certain cases, updating that information.
What Choices Do I Have?
As discussed above, you can always choose not to provide information.

Information Can I Access?" section above. When you update information, we may keep
a copy of the prior version for our records.
- If you do not want to receive e-mail or other mail from us, nonmembers can unsubscribe
here. However, the Conditions of Use and other legal notices from us, such as this
Privacy Notice, as it may change from time to time, will still govern your use of
the Forum's website and your relationship with the Forum regarding any Forum event,
and it is your responsibility to review them for changes.
- In addition, the Federal Trade Commission provides useful information about online
privacy on its own Website, Site Seeing on the Internet.
Children
The Forum does not provide services for children. If you are under 18, you may use
the Forum's website and attend Forum events only under the direct supervision and
direction of a parent or guardian.
Conditions of Use, Notices, and Revisions
If you choose to visit the Forum's website or attend a Forum event, your visit and
any dispute over privacy is subject to this Privacy Notice and our Conditions of
Use, including limitations on damages, arbitration of disputes, and application
of the law of the state of California. If you have any concern about privacy, please
send us a thorough description to info@mitcentralcoast.com,
and we will try to
resolve it. This Privacy Notice and the Conditions of Use may change without notice,
and use of information that we gather from time to time is subject to the Privacy
Notice in effect at the time of use. We may e-mail periodic reminders of our notices
and conditions, unless you have instructed us not to, but you should check our website
frequently to see recent changes.
